THE SPANISH BEATLE IN ELVIRA

Elvira Street is supposed to have tons of bars. In the spirit if blending in with the locals, at 10.30 pm we walked down the incredibly steep steps towards Placa Triunfo to pass through the arched wall of Elvira to have a few cervezas (draught beer). Full of spirits, we were expecting to hop in from one bar to another.

Only to be dissapointed.

Maybe we were too early or something... There were not many places that were open!! We walked up the whole stretch and narrowed down our choices into 2 bars. One is smallish size, with a low ceiling and a guy playing an acoustic rock guitar. The other is slightly bigger with a yuppie type of crowd that´s more pub like. We opted for the first one. We were in luck. Just as we were walking in, a few punters walked out, leaving free seats.

That night´s performance was definitely a success. The place was filled with friends and the hype was really good. He was good. And cute. He´s got this curly hair and seemed to be funny (... he was making jokes in Spanish and everybody laughed). Alas, the girlfriend was sitting in front of me. But that´s okay. I had a good time nonetheless. He was playing a number of Beatles´s songs that got the whole room singin. I think it was Love Me Do that really did it for the crowd... He played a harmonica as well, and at some songs have a flutist playing. Cool stuff.

And oh, drinks are quite cheap. A red wine and a cerveza cost 3.20€. Plenty of reason to drink the night away.
