VENICE IS OVERRATED
Venezia, Italy
June 29

So, the city is nearly flooded once every year. So, there are gondolas with singing gondoliers around. So, you travel by boat instead of a bus. SOOOOO????

Venice is soooo overrated. It made no impression on me whatsoever. It looks nice enough and Piazza St. Marco is gorgeous and the Basilica is fantastic and looks like something out of a story book, but that's about it. Sarah said that maybe I feel that because of the tourists population. That's probably exactly why. The whole city is dead. There's very little if any locals live there and if there were no tourists - there was nothing.

A nice little highlight was how we bumped into Metallica. Yes! METALLICA - The band. Sarah recognised the bass player and Kirk Hammet and his girlfriend. And the bodyguards. Sarah got their signatures and a photo with Kirk Hammet. Apparently they're playing in Padova the next day. The bodyguard asked if we were going to be in the show,... Yeah, we're such great fans we have no idea they're touring Europe!! Hahaha!! OUr excuse was, ooh we have been traveling for about 2 months and we're so out of it.. Yeah right!

Last night Sarah was supposed to get into a train that would bring her into Germany. We rode on the wrong waterbus and I had no idea whether she made it or not. We splitted last night and continuing our adventure separately. She had been great travel company.

Except for the nice Italian food, and the beautiful Venetian glass blowing jewelry and art pieces Venezia did nothing for me. Venezia can drown and I wouldn't feel a thing.

Lucky I was only there for 2 days.
